How to Install Pixel Launcher as System App!

For those of you who want to get the full Pixel launcher features like swipe-left from home screen to get Google Now, you will have to install the Pixel Launcher APK as a system app.

Now, some of you have asked me on how to do this, it is rather easy so let me show you how to do this.

Before we begin, you will need a rooted Android device as converting any app into system app means full admin access to your phone. ┬áThere’s no way around this.

Downloads required for this tutorial:

Google Pixel Launcher APKDownload

Step 1. Install and Run ES File Explorer app from the Play Store.

Go into your Download folder where you should have downloaded the Google Pixel Launcher APK file.

Step 2. Enable “Root Explorer” in the menu.

Step 3. Tap on “Root Explorer” and choose “Mount R/W”.

Step 4. Make sure “/system” and set to “RW” and hit “OK”.

Step 5. Do a long-press on the APK file and choose “Copy”.

Step 6. Past the file into “/system/app” directory.

Step 7. Change the permissions to “RW-R-R” like shown below and hit “OK”.

Step 8. Reboot.

Once rebooted, you should have Pixel Launcher fully working with swipe-to-left feature.  Congrats!
